My name is Ivar Jansson, I’m 21 years old and born and raised on the Åland Islands. I’m currently in my second year studying film at Akademin Valand in Gothenburg, Sweden. Throughout the years I’ve mostly worked with various kinds of documentaries and have a background as a journalist and photographer for a local newspaper back home, but I’ve also done some shorter narrative projects.
Hence, my experience in scriptwriting does not come from writing traditional narrative scripts, but rather from my documentary work, using the concepts of scriptwriting in the documentary process, in both traditional documentary projects and those bordering between documentary and fiction.
The relationship and similarities between narrative and documentary filmmaking is something I’m very interested in – and scriptwriting is a big part of that. I look forward to experimenting more with these things and trying new ways to use scriptwriting in my own work.
