The Masterclass arranged by Metka Center for Media Education was a lovely experience to say the least. It was a dynamic digital event that was a gathering of emerging talent and professional script writers, showrunners and directors. I truly feel that the sharing of knowledge through communion was an invaluable experience.
Over a couple of days we dove into a variety of topics such as narrative structure, writing characters and analyzing choices going from page to screen.
Apart from getting to hear from skilled people within the industry across the Nordic countries, one of the special elements of the entire process was the amount of feedback we received. Learning not only the different interpretations of each other’s scripts, but learning which feedback to use and listen to. We not only sharpened our pens, but also our ears, as listening is a vital part of writing. We were given much room to practice both receiving and giving feedback.
I thoroughly enjoyed meeting all the contestants, learning about their stories and their unique voices. It deeply excites me to see the talent that is coming with the next generation of writers in the Nordic countries.
